Fishers of the Future: Towards 2050

The European Commission is hosting the closing event of the Fishers of the Future Foresight Study on 14 January 2025 in Brussels. This study, launched in October 2023, is an EU-wide participatory initiative led by Tetra Tech and partners, involving experts from 22 coastal Member States and outermost regions. It aims to explore the future changes in the profession, role, and identity of fishers up to 2050, considering challenges like climate change and marine pollution. The event will present the study's findings and discuss transition pathways for 2050.

The agenda includes opening comments by Costas Kadis, presentations by Macarena Davies, and a panel discussion with key figures in fisheries policy. The event will conclude with a wrap-up by Stephen Davies. It will be held at Breydel's Auditorium in Brussels and online, with languages including English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
