Preparatory Actions - Call for proposals "European Festival of Journalism and Media Freedom" (Connect/2024/10246234). Objectives The “European Festival of Journalism and Media Freedom” is aimed at reinforcing dialogue, cooperation and partnership in the EU, especially among journalists, media outlets, civil society organisations and media professionals, focusing on crucial questions for the profession, such as EU legislation on media, disinformation, the safety of journalists, or the challenges of media economic models. The proposed preparatory action is aimed at contributing to the political objectives set out and pursued by the European Democracy Action Plan (EDAP), which is based on the assumption that informed and empowered journalists, media companies and citizens are the best guarantee for the resilience of the European democracy. Three annual EU-wide editions of the festival shall be organized. Each event should gather media professionals from different backgrounds, i.e. large media corporations, freelancers, independent investigative journalists, local media outlets, as well as representatives of press associations and media freedom NGOs. National and European authorities’ representatives would also be invited as guest speakers or observers.
