16th Citizens’ Energy Forum
This year's forum, titled 'Towards a Citizens Energy Package: Empowering citizens for a just energy transition', is set in the context of the next Commission mandate following the European elections. It aims to increase citizen participation in the energy transition and strengthen the social dimension of the Energy Union. The event will be live-streamed, allowing online audience engagement. The working language is English, and interpretation is not guaranteed.
The forum will be held on 5 December 2024, from 09:30 to 17:00 CET at the Budapest Congress Center in Hungary. It will feature keynote speeches, plenary sessions, and multi-stakeholder breakout sessions focusing on empowering citizens for a just energy transition. The event is organized by the European Commission in collaboration with the Hungarian Energy and Public Utilities Regulatory Authority.
Alongside the forum, the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform will host a workshop on 4 December 2024 to exchange experiences on energy communities, intended for local and regional authorities, Energy Agencies, and other public actors.
The Citizens’ Energy Forum provides a platform for consumers, regulators, and industry to discuss consumer rights in the EU’s energy market. Since its inception in 2008, it has contributed to the Commission’s work on energy and consumer policy.
