Mission Ocean and Waters Forum and Related Events
The European Commission is organizing a week-long series of events from March 3 to March 7, 2025, in Brussels, Belgium, to discuss and shape future EU policies and initiatives on the ocean and waters. The events will focus on the EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters, the European Ocean Pact, and the European Water Resilience Strategy.
The forum will bring together various stakeholders, including youth, research, innovation, academia, regions, cities, ports, islands, and the BlueInvest and European Blue Parks community. The aim is to showcase collective action for the health of the ocean and waters and discuss Europe's blue future.
Key events include:
- Monday, March 3: Opening with Young Voices for the Ocean and Mission Ocean and Waters projects meeting.
- Tuesday, March 4: Progress in Action: Mission Restore Our Ocean and Waters Forum.
- Wednesday, March 5: Fisheries and Ocean Dialogues and BlueInvest Day.
- Thursday, March 6: Mission Ocean and Waters for Rivers and Water Resilience and 4th EU Blue Parks community workshop.
- Friday, March 7: Knowledge is Power sessions focusing on marine data and observation.
The events will feature discussions on innovative solutions, investment initiatives, and strategies for restoring marine and freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity, with a focus on protecting 30% and strictly protecting 10% of EU sea areas by 2030.
