Virtual Visit to DG Translation 2024

The 2024 Annual virtual visit to DG Translation aims to bring together master's students in translation and linguistic studies, professional linguists, and translators working for the European Commission. Participants will gain insights into the daily work of European Commission translators, the translation tools and methods used, required skills, various translation profiles, and career and traineeship opportunities at the European Commission.

Professional translators will share their experiences and answer questions in interactive virtual rooms. The program includes an introduction to DG Translation, the work of translators, and career opportunities, all presented in English. Breakout rooms for each of the 24 official EU languages will allow students to interact with translators and ask questions.

Registration Details: Registration opened on 7 October and closed on 14 November 2024 at 18:00 CET. Priority was given to universities and participants from EU member countries, with a limit of 1000 connections. Registrations were validated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Event Details: The event will take place online on Friday, 22 November 2024, from 09:30 to 12:00 CET. It is intended for master's students in translation and linguistic studies, and professional linguists. The event will be conducted in multiple languages, including English, Bulgarian, Spanish, Czech, Danish, German, Estonian, Greek, French, Irish, Croatian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Hungarian, Maltese, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovenian, Slovak, Finnish, and Swedish.
