Translating Europe Forum 2024
The Translating Europe Forum 2024, organized by the European Commission, will take place from Wednesday, November 6th at 15:00 to Friday, November 8th at 13:00 in Brussels, Belgium. The event is free of charge and will be available both online and in-person.
This year's forum will explore the role of terminology, linguistic data, and technology in the translation profession. Key topics include the impact of Generative AI on translation, terminology management, and the integration of AI in translation workflows.
Highlights of the event include a keynote speech by Anthony Pym on translator training in the era of generative AI, a scene-setting panel on AI and translators, a youth panel on the industry's future, and a keynote by Marina Pantcheva on AI's capabilities and challenges.
The event will also feature discussions on the EU's response to AI developments, AI-powered terminology extraction, and translation capacity-building in countries wishing to join the EU.
