The new funding opportunity is promoted by the Partnership on Transforming Health and Care Systems (THCS), which has once again decided to pre-inform potential applicants about the essential contents of the new call. This allows interested parties, including large enterprises, more time to organize consortia and draft project proposals.

This continues the activities of the Horizon Europe partnership dedicated to improving healthcare services.

What is the European Partnership Transforming Health and Care Systems?

As mentioned, the THCS is a Horizon Europe co-funded action with a 30% co-financing from the European Commission.

Launched in January 2023, the THCS will be operational for seven years, until December 31, 2029.

It involves 64 institutions (such as regions, research centers, and universities) from 26 countries, including 23 EU countries and 3 associated with Horizon Europe, along with Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

It is worth noting that this is an Italian-led partnership. The coordinator of the THCS is the Italian Ministry of Health, responsible for managing the instrument throughout the European seven-year period. It represents one of the seven Italian institutions in the THCS, including the Regional Agency for Health and Social Affairs of Puglia (ARESS), the ULSS 4 Veneto Orientale Company (PROMIS), the National Institute of Health (ISS), the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), the Tuscany Region, and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (UCSC).

The goal of the THCS is simple to explain but complex to achieve. It aims to contribute to the transition towards more sustainable, efficient, resilient, inclusive, innovative, and high-quality health and care systems, equally accessible to all.
