The European Commission's Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) is organizing a workshop titled "The Monetary and Fiscal Policy Mix in a Changing World" on Thursday, 6 February 2025. This full-day event will be held at the Charlemagne building in Brussels and will feature high-profile speakers and discussants from academia, policy institutions, international organizations, and the private sector.

The workshop will be divided into two sessions. The first session will explore the various concepts of the equilibrium real interest rate, aiming to understand how this crucial but unobservable variable is evolving. The second session will focus on the appropriate fiscal-monetary policy mix, reflecting the renewed focus and increased academic interest in this topic in recent years. The event will conclude with a policy panel discussion featuring leading experts.
