Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Digital 2024-2027: €865 Million for 5G, Quantum Networks, and Digital Infrastructure

The Connecting Europe Facility 2 (2021-2027) has a total budget of €33.7 billion, aimed at improving connectivity between member states through investments in transport, energy, and digital infrastructure.

With the consultation open until May 28, the Commission aims to gather feedback from various stakeholders to assess the effectiveness, efficiency, relevance, coherence, and added value brought by the CEF Program, at a key moment for the discussion on the future of EU funding programs. In recent weeks, the European Commission has indeed initiated the debate on the configuration of the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF 2028-2034), which will likely see some significant changes in the architecture of European funding programs. The Commission intends for this transformation to simplify and make the MFF more targeted, with possible effects also on the CEF program.
