Following the series of terrorist attacks by Hamas in Israel and the resulting disruptions, the European Commission has conducted a thorough evaluation of the challenges faced by partner organizations in the affected region and decided to extend some of the Horizon Europe programme deadlines.
Recognizing the difficulties caused by these circumstances, particularly in regard to meeting the upcoming deadlines for various Horizon Europe calls, the European Commission, in line with the European Union's commitment to fostering inclusivity and collaboration within the research community, announced today an extraordinary extension of several Horizon Europe call deadlines. This extension aims to provide additional time and support to applicants who may be encountering difficulties, all while ensuring that the implementation of Horizon Europe activities remains on track.
The extended deadlines for the following calls, applicable to all organizations regardless of their location, are as follows:
- The ERC Starting Grant Call will now be open until November 7, instead of the original October 24th deadline. More information on the call here.
- The ERC Synergy Call deadline has been extended to November 15, from the original November 8th.
- The EIC Accelerator deadline is now November, extended from the initial October 19th.
- The EIC Pathfinder deadline has been moved to October 25, from the original October 18th.
This extra time will enable thorough review, the opportunity to make necessary adjustments to proposals, and ultimately ensure the successful submission of applications.
Iliana Ivanova, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth said:
“With this extension, we offer our support to those affected by the recent hostilities. Our research community believes in inclusivity, resilience, and collaboration, and we are devoted to ensuring that each organisation has equal chances. Our thoughts are with you, and we wish you safety and peace, above all.”
