The Advancing Transport Leadership Program is an annual five-day training initiative aimed at enhancing knowledge on sustainable, low-carbon, and resilient transport systems. This program will be held on a rotational basis in Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the People’s Republic of China, in collaboration with various partner organizations such as the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), and the Global Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center (GSTIKC). The inaugural session is scheduled for 12 - 16 May 2025 in Tokyo, Japan, running from 09:15 to 17:00 Tokyo Time. The program will include a mix of workshops, field visits, and relevant training materials, designed to equip participants—comprising transport specialists and government officials from ADB member countries—with cutting-edge knowledge in the transport sector. The first day will introduce emerging trends and policies, followed by discussions on the future of transport in Asia. Participants will visit Yokohama City on the second day to examine smart city projects and urban mobility initiatives. The third day will focus on low-carbon pathways for emerging economies, featuring presentations on decarbonization strategies and group exercises to develop financing strategies for low-carbon transport projects. The fourth day will address resilient transport systems, discussing risk assessment and financing mechanisms for climate-resilient infrastructure. The final day will emphasize leadership in transport transformation, culminating in a networking session and a certificate ceremony. The program aims to equip government officials with knowledge on decarbonization and climate resilience, foster collaboration among stakeholders, enhance leadership skills, and encourage innovative solutions for low-carbon transport projects. It expects to host around 60 participants, including selected government officials and experts from various sectors. Registration is by invitation or prior arrangement with ADBI, with the program supported by key partners including ADB, GGGI, GSTIKC, and Japan Railway Technical Service (JARTS).
