The Caspian Green Energy Corridor is emerging as a cornerstone in Central Asia’s shift toward renewable energy and cross-border power connectivity. Anchored by a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and the governments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, this ambitious venture underscores the region’s collective will to decarbonize and diversify its energy supply.
Feasibility Study and Funding Framework
At the heart of the collaboration lies a feasibility study to evaluate the development of a green energy transmission corridor. The study, funded and coordinated by ADB and AIIB, will assess technical, financial, and environmental parameters essential for infrastructure investment. With the support of energy ministries across the region, the study aims to identify optimal routes, capacity needs, and cross-border regulatory frameworks.
