The course aims to provide regulators with essential insights to foster dialogue and learning about the risks and opportunities within the expanding digital asset ecosystem, running from 23 April to 17 June 2025 at Cambridge. The rapid evolution of digital assets, including cryptocurrencies, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), decentralized finance (DeFi), and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), has led to increased mainstream adoption and integration, driven by institutional interest, regulatory advancements, and technological innovations. This shift is reshaping traditional financial systems and promoting a more inclusive and decentralized future. As various stakeholders, including governments and financial institutions, navigate the complexities of blockchain technology, the need for knowledgeable policymakers becomes critical to harnessing the potential of digital assets while mitigating associated risks. To support this, the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF) has developed an Online Course on Digital Assets for Regulators, with scholarships provided by the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) for eligible policymakers from developing countries, ensuring wider participation. The program will delve into the digital assets ecosystem, exploring distributed ledger technology and its transformative effects on monetary systems. It employs an active learning model, allowing participants to engage with case studies and discussions in both asynchronous and live sessions. By completing the course, participants will enhance their understanding of digital assets, develop technical expertise, and gain access to a global community of practice through the Regulator Knowledge Exchange (RKE) platform. The course targets up to 35 government officials from developing member countries of the ADB, focusing on those from finance ministries, financial authorities, and central banks. The collaboration between CCAF and Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education Limited (JBSEEL) aims to equip financial authorities with the necessary knowledge and tools to navigate the evolving digital asset landscape, building on a successful partnership that has previously engaged numerous participants from across the Asia-Pacific region.
