On 28 March 2025, a hybrid event will be held at the ADB Headquarters in Manila, Philippines, focusing on innovative strategies to integrate nature’s value into development planning, drawing lessons from the People, Planet, Prosperity (3Ps) Project pilot initiatives in the Philippines and Sri Lanka. This initiative, in collaboration with Stanford University’s Natural Capital Project, aims to develop natural capital approaches that inform policy and investment decisions, thereby securing natural capital to support development goals. The project has been piloted in five Asia Pacific countries, including Armenia, China, the Cook Islands, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka, engaging multilateral development bank leaders, local government partners, and experts to guide priority policy and finance decisions. The participating countries are enhancing their technical and policy capacities to implement these approaches in future endeavors. The event is part of a three-part Natural Capital webinar series designed to disseminate lessons learned and promote the scaling of these approaches globally. ADB intends to institutionalize natural capital assessments as essential upstream work to guide downstream planning and investments, while also developing operational support and financing opportunities for member countries. The webinar will provide insights into mainstreaming natural capital approaches in development planning, showcase the development of assessments in the Philippines and Sri Lanka, share highlights from the projects, and discuss integration within ADB and member countries. It targets participants from various sectors, including government, intergovernmental organizations, development institutions, private firms, research institutions, NGOs, and individuals interested in agriculture and natural resources. The event will feature a range of speakers, including ADB officials and experts from the Natural Capital Project, and registration is free via Zoom.
