The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission is launching a book titled "Loneliness in Europe – Determinants, Risks and Interventions." The event will present the main findings of the book and discuss future research pathways on loneliness, a significant public health concern in Europe. The event will be held both in person at JRC Ispra, Italy, and online via Webex on Friday, 7 February 2025, from 14:30 to 18:30 CET. No registration is required.
The book addresses the societal problem of loneliness, supported by the inaugural EU Loneliness Survey conducted in 2022, which involved around 30,000 individuals across 27 European nations. The event will feature presentations by experts from the JRC and other institutions, covering topics such as childhood experiences, health, social media use, societal preferences, and policy interventions related to loneliness.
