The Competitiveness Compass is proposed as a very ambitious strategic plan that will engage the new Commission over the next five years and represents a shift perceived as "urgent" by the European Executive, to ensure the EU establishes itself among the global economic leaders in the medium to long term.
Many themes are at the center of Brussels' roadmap on competitiveness ("Competitiveness Compass"): from sustainability, to artificial intelligence, to high energy costs, and new business models.
The strategy was already announced last November when the Parliament approved the composition of the new Commission chaired by Ursula von der Leyen. The head of the EU Executive has recently returned to the topic, announcing the imminent presentation of the Compass, a five-year strategy containing the main measures aimed at reviving the Union's economic competitiveness.
