30 Years of Swedish as an EU Language
This event celebrates the 30th anniversary of Swedish as an official EU language, marking the accession of Sweden and Finland to the EU. The Translating Europe Workshop will feature an introductory speech by Juhani Lönnroth, former Director-General of the European Commission Directorate-General for Translation. Swedish-speaking translators and interpreters from the European Commission, the Council, and the European Parliament will participate in a panel discussion to share their experiences and insights into the changes in EU translation and interpretation since 1995. Additionally, Swedish professor Björn Melander from the University of Uppsala will present on 'EU Swedish'. The event will be conducted entirely in Swedish.
