The European call aimed at fostering international cooperation in the field of research and innovation will open on September 19, financing the exchanges of personnel involved in these activities. Here's who can participate in the Horizon call under the European Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) program.
The MSCA Staff Exchanges 2024 call, funded by the Horizon Europe program, aims to promote international, intersectoral, and interdisciplinary collaborations in research and innovation, through the exchange of staff and the sharing of knowledge and best practices.
As with other initiatives under the framework program for research and innovation, this call has undergone changes following the amendment adopted last April 17 by the European Commission regarding the Horizon Europe work programme 2023-2024.
In fact, the call has seen a certain increase in the overall resources available, rising from 81.2 million euros to 99.4 million euros. Moreover, the opening of the call has been brought forward, which will be activated on September 19 and will remain open until February 5, 2025.
Horizon Europe: how to participate in the MSCA Staff Exchanges 2024 call
The initiative is aimed at fostering a shared culture in the R&I fields, welcoming and rewarding creativity and entrepreneurship, but also helping to transform ideas into innovative products, services, or processes.
Concretely, the call finances short-term international and intersectoral exchanges of staff members involved in research and innovation activities of the participating organizations.
The ultimate purpose of the action is twofold. On one hand, there is the intention to develop sustainable collaboration projects among various organizations from the academic and non-academic sectors, with a particular focus on SMEs. On the other, there is added value for the staff involved in the exchange, who will benefit from new knowledge, skills, and career development perspectives, while the participating organizations will increase their research and innovation capacities.
Staff exchanges - in English 'secondment' - are open to international consortia of universities, research institutes, businesses, SMEs, and other non-academic organizations.
