Pilot Projects . Call for proposals "The European Union – the media freedom hub" (CONNECT/2024/1398922). Objectives The overall goal of the pilot project is to continue the activities of the previous one, i.e. to sustain and improve existing financial and other kinds of support to exiled independent media and to foster the coordination and consolidation of a panEuropean platform or network of media hubs to promote the preservation of a pluralistic media environment. It aims at creating the conditions for exiled independent media and journalists to work in the EU so that they can continue producing content and distributing it to their audiences without any editorial interference. The broader aim is to make Europe a safer place by helping the peoples of the countries in their democratic aspirations, where independent media play an indispensable role. Eligible participants In order to be eligible, the applicants (beneficiaries and affiliated entities) must: be legal entities (public or private bodies) be established in one of the eligible countries, i.e.: EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories (OCTs) Proposals may be submitted by any of the following applicants or combinations of: public authorities (national, regional, local); international organisations; non-governmental organisations; research centres.
