16th International ATAX Tax Administration Conference Tax Administration: Getting it Right – ADBI Special Session

The 16th International ATAX Tax Administration Conference will take place on 8-9 April 2025 in Sydney, Australia, focusing on the theme Tax Administration: Getting it Right. This conference aims to gather leading tax policymakers and experts to showcase research, analyze emerging developments in tax policy and administration, and foster the creation of innovative policies to enhance effectiveness. The digital transformation has significantly altered the landscape of taxation, creating opportunities for international cooperation through data sharing and common reporting frameworks, while also introducing complexities such as base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) and challenges in taxing digital intangible assets. The conference will address the implementation of digital services taxes and ongoing negotiations for multilateral agreements, particularly the Two-Pillar Solutions, which seek to align the benefits of digital economies with taxation while mitigating risks. A special session by the ADBI will focus on Taxing Digital Products and Services: Opportunities and Challenges in Asia and the Pacific, bringing together policymakers and experts to discuss international tax cooperation and the allocation of taxing rights in the digital economy. The conference objectives include surveying the current state of international tax cooperation, assessing the impacts of digital transformation on taxation systems, designing equitable policy solutions, and fostering an international community of practice to tackle contemporary tax challenges. Target participants include international policymakers, regulators, practitioners, and academics interested in digitalization and innovative tax policy approaches.
