The European Commission is hosting a Civil Society Dialogue on the impact of EU Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) on key environmental aspects, including climate. The event will present the draft final report of an ex-post evaluation conducted by a consortium of consultants, including Ecorys Europe, the Institute of European Environmental Policy, and the Centre for European Policy Studies. The study evaluates how environmental and climate considerations are addressed in the implementation of bilateral EU FTAs, as requested in the 2021 Trade Policy Review.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, 3 December 2024, from 11:00 to 13:00 CET at the Berlaymont building in Brussels, with live streaming available. Registration closes on Wednesday, 27 November 2024, at 12:00. The event is organized by the Directorate-General for Trade and is part of the EU trade meetings with Civil Society.
Lead speaker Dora Correia, Director of Directorate C, will present the report, followed by an open discussion with stakeholders. The meeting is hybrid, allowing both in-person and online participation via WEBEX.
