The European Commission is hosting a Civil Society Dialogue on the impact of EU Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) on key environmental aspects, including climate. This meeting will present the draft final report of the ex-post evaluation of these impacts. The evaluation is conducted by a consortium of consultants, including Ecorys Europe, the Institute of European Environmental Policy, and the Centre for European Policy Studies. The study responds to the Trade Policy Review of 2021, which called for an assessment of how environmental and climate considerations are integrated into the implementation of bilateral EU FTAs.
The event will take place on Tuesday, 3 December 2024, from 11:00 to 13:00 CET at the Berlaymont building in Brussels, with live streaming available. Civil society organisations registered in the DG Trade Civil Society Database are invited to participate. The meeting will include a presentation of the draft report, followed by an open discussion with stakeholders. Dora Correia, Director of Directorate C at the Directorate-General for Trade, will be the lead speaker.
