JRC Summer School on Non-Animal Approaches in Science
The European Commission's Joint Research Centre is organizing the fifth edition of its Summer School on Non-Animal Approaches in Science. This event will take place from Monday, 19 May 2025, to Friday, 23 May 2025, in Ispra, Italy.
The summer school aims to address ethical aspects of using animals in science and offers advantages for conducting human and environmental research. It will cover cutting-edge technologies such as induced pluripotent stem cells, organ-on-chip, computational modelling, and artificial intelligence.
The program includes lectures, round tables, and debate sessions, focusing on complex in vitro methods and computational modelling used in biomedical research and regulatory applications. Participants will also explore career development paths in non-animal science.
Applications open on 5 November 2024 and close on 15 January 2025. The event is free of charge, but participants must cover their travel and accommodation costs. Travel grants are available from various organizations.
The summer school is open to students and early-career scientists with a strong interest in non-animal approaches. The maximum number of participants is 120, and continuous presence is required for a certificate of attendance.
