InfoPoint Conference: Social Protection & Public Finance Management

The conference will address the challenge of achieving universal social protection coverage in a sustainable way. Over four years, the DG INTPA funded a programme to improve synergies between social protection and public finance management (SP&PFM) from 2019 to 2023. The programme involved collaboration between the International Labour Organization (ILO), UNICEF, and the Global Coalition for Social Protection Floors (GCSP) across 24 countries.

The programme focused on boosting investment in social protection through domestic resource mobilization and improved public finance management, while adhering to international social security standards. It achieved significant milestones, including the adoption of national social protection policies and laws, and the introduction of schemes for persons with disabilities, formal economy workers, the unemployed, and migrant workers.

The conference will discuss the programme's achievements, innovations, and the way forward in strengthening links between social protection and public finance management. It will feature speakers from various organizations, including Cécile Billaux from INTPA, Céline Peyron Bista from ILO, and others.

The event will take place on Thursday, 12 December 2024, from 15:00 to 16:30 CET in Brussels, Belgium, and will be conducted in English.
