The Design Support Hub for IPCEIs ("Important Projects of Common European Interest") announced by Brussels involves collaboration among member states to support IPCEI candidates in the design process after they have passed the selection phase.
Launched in 2018, IPCEIs are transnational projects that encourage collaboration between industry and research centers in Europe aimed at development and innovation in areas highly significant for the EU's competitiveness (such as batteries and hydrogen), which involve innovative technologies not yet existing. Therefore, to reach a more advanced level of maturity, these projects require both public support - to reduce implementation risk - and contributions from the Union's centers of excellence.
The new Hub inaugurated by the Commission will allow the 27 member states to identify and directly propose candidate projects in line with IPCEI rules, accelerating the entire process.
