Developing new funding opportunities for affordable and sustainable housing across Europe. This is the goal of the pan-European investment platform for affordable housing, whose foundations were launched today in Luxembourg by the EU Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB), aiming to also aggregate other actors.
The announcement of the start of operations for the creation of the pan-European platform for investments in affordable housing was made today at the EIB Group Forum, during which the EIB Group also announced the imminent launch of its Action Plan to support housing, which will be a fundamental part of the platform.

With rental costs having increased by a quarter over the last 15 years and house prices rising by about half, the housing crisis in the Old Continent has become an issue that can no longer be ignored. Last year, about 17% of the European population lived in overcrowded homes, and one in ten Europeans spent 40% or more of their disposable income on housing. These figures are compounded by those on energy poverty, which is estimated to affect 46 million people.
