Green Deal: a stronger legislation to accelerate the rollout of renewable energy

Photo Credit: Pexels The Commission welcomed the agreement that raises the EU's binding renewable target for 2030, but also aims at simplifying and accelerating the authorisation procedures in order to reaffirm the EU's determination to gain its energy independence and speed up the deployment of home-grown renewable energy.

The provisional agreement reached at the end of March between the European Parliament and the Council intends to reinforce the EU Renewable Energy Directive. This deal brings the EU one step closer to completing the “Fit for 55” legislation to deliver the European Green Deal and the REPowerEU objectives.
