The European Commission has approved the 2025-2027 work programme, marking the second phase of the LIFE 2021-2027 programme, the EU's financial instrument dedicated to the environment and climate action. Over €2.3 billion will be allocated for the three-year period to support projects aimed at protecting nature and biodiversity, developing the circular economy, mitigating and adapting to climate change, achieving zero pollution, and promoting clean energy.

Since 1992, LIFE has been managed by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), through which Brussels funds projects for environmental protection and biodiversity, climate action, support for the circular economy, and energy transition projects.

The publication of the LIFE 2025-2027 work programme marks the start of the second phase of the 2021-2027 multi-annual work programme. In 2025, the Programme will continue to operate primarily through calls for proposals. Specifically, according to available information, LIFE 2025 calls are expected to be published on April 24 on the Funding & Tenders portal.

How the LIFE Programme Works

The LIFE programme, established in 1992, is the EU's main financial instrument dedicated to the environment and climate action, supporting innovative projects that contribute to ecological transition, environmental protection, climate change mitigation, and sustainable resource use.
