In 2025, the Research Fund, which supports the green transition of the coal and steel sectors by financing research and innovation projects, will finance three new calls. It starts in February with two calls to support pilot and demonstration projects, followed by the annual call in June.
The European Commission, which directly manages the Research Programme of the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS), announced the schedule for the calls. On January 20, Brussels announced the decision to allocate a total budget of 175 million euros for 2025 to fund three calls: the Big Ticket for Steel 2025 call (100 million), the Big Ticket for Coal 2025 call (35 million), and the Standard Annual Call (40 million).
