Four new Interreg programmes with a total value of 530 million euros for the period 2021-2027 have been approved by the European Commission to foster cross-border cooperation within the European Union.
The funding will be directed to 10 EU Member States, but also to Ukraine and Moldova, which have taken the place of Belarus and Russia after the start of the war of aggression against Kyiv.
"Thanks to these territorial cooperation programmes, Member States and countries on the path towards the EU can work better together to tackle shared challenges and grasp common opportunities across their common borders. In the framework of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, this cooperation with our partners is even more crucial", said the European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira.
