
If the communication on the mid-term review lays the groundwork for a review of the 2021-2027 Cohesion Policy Programs aimed at concentrating more resources on the Union's new strategic priorities - competitiveness, defense, promotion of affordable housing, water resilience, and energy transition - the amendments to the regulations of the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund for workers displaced from work (EGF) aim to facilitate investments in human capital qualification and employment.
The two processes are closely linked, as they reflect the need to accompany workers, through the development of new skills, in the transition to new strategic sectors, such as defense and clean industries.
"Whether it is the consequences of industrial transformations or decarbonization, European people and regions must be equipped to adapt and thrive," said the Executive Vice President for Social Rights and Skills, Roxana Mînzatu.
