There cannot be a centralization of European structural funds, but we also cannot defend the Cohesion Policy at a general level without addressing its issues, starting with the absorption rate of resources, which stands at 6% four years after the approval of the Programs co-financed by the EU funds 2021-2027.

In his first debate in the Regional Development Committee (REGI), following the November 12 hearing that paved the way for the European Parliament's approval of his mandate, the Executive Vice President of the European Commission in charge of Cohesion and Reforms, Raffaele Fitto, clarified some essential points of his vision on the implementation of the European structural funds 2021-2027 and on the reform of the Cohesion Policy within the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028-2034.
