This, and much more, was discussed by the Vice President of the European Commission, Raffaele Fitto, in the REGI committee at the EU Parliament.
In his first debate in the Regional Development Committee (REGI), following the November 12 hearing that paved the way for the European Parliament's approval of his mandate, the Executive Vice President of the European Commission in charge of Cohesion and Reforms, Raffaele Fitto, clarified some essential points of his vision on the implementation of the European structural funds 2021-2027 and on the reform of the Cohesion Policy within the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028-2034.
European Funds Spending Stalled
The elephant in the room that Fitto cannot ignore, and which frequently recurs in the interventions of the REGI committee MEPs, is the low absorption rate of the European funds 2021-2027, stuck at 6% four years after the approval of the Programs.
