EU Cohesion Policy: Commission launches the European Urban Initiative
The European Urban Initiative (EUI) has been officially launched this month during the Cities of Forum in Turin, where the Capacity Building offer, the European Knowledge platform on urban matters and the topics of the second Innovative Action call for proposal have also been announced.
The European Urban Initiative (EUI) will focus on urban innovation projects and support urban areas of all sizes with actions, capacity and knowledge sharing on sustainable urban development. It aims to increase the modernization and improve the quality of investments in urban areas.
Urban Innovative Actions
The EUI provides opportunities for cities, as enablers of innovation, to take the risk and turn ambitious and creative ideas into pilot projects that can be tested in real urban settings.
With a budget of 450 million euros for the period 2021-2027, the EUI builds on the positive achievements of the Urban Innovative Actions 2014-2020, which supported 86 projects with 372 million euros across the
