Pilot Project - Call for proposals 2024 "Technical means to provide Russian households with trustworthy information" (Call CNECT/2024/5258455). Objectives The overall goal of the pilot project is to ensure that independent journalists working in exile have the technical means to adapt their work and bring it to the Russian audience via Direct-to-Home satellite television. It aims to provide the technical means that such journalists can use to broadcast their content effectively into Russia via satellite without being censored, thereby providing their Russian audience with independent, alternative and pluralistic information. The pilot project has three major priorities: Assessing the technical requirements for leading Russian independent journalism platforms to broadcast their content to the Russian audience through direct-to-the-home satellite television. Building on e.g. existing projects to support independent Russian media in exile, such as the “Free Media Hub EAST”, and on other sources, the assessment should map the Russian independent media potentially interested in having their content broadcasted into Russia and explain what kind of technical assistance these media would need to meet the purposes of the project.
