Registration period ended on Monday 29 April 2024, 23:59 CEST Thanks to advances in early cancer detection, effective therapies and supportive care, the prognosis for a cancer diagnosis is better than ever before. Survival rates have increased markedly over the last 20 years, resulting in more than 12 million persons with a history of cancer in Europe alone. Yet, for some obstacles persist when accessing financial services, even years after the end of their treatment. As part of Europe's Beating Cancer Plan, the Commission is closely examining practices in the area of financial services from the point of view of fostering access for persons with a history of cancer in long term remission. This meeting aims to take stock of progress so far and to continue the dialogue towards ensuring that only necessary and proportionate information is used when assessing the eligibility of applicants for financial products. The Forum brings together Nepali and European businesses, to build and further strengthen trade and investment ties between investors of EU member states and Nepal. It targets facilitating joint investments and projects that can support Nepal's vision to be prosperous, supported by private sector led sustainable economic growth. What happens when diverse stakeholders from the DFS ecosystem unite with a shared vision The remarkable journeys of the Digital Financial Services Working Groups in Malawi and Ethiopia offer a compelling answer. Supported by UNCDF, the European Union EU, and the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States OACPS, under the DFS4Resilience programme, these groups transitioned into full-fledged associations, setting a new benchmark for collaboration in the digital financial services sector.   The event will bring together experts and practitioners from Member State representations, business and trade associations, companies, consultancies, auditors and other stakeholders. Its goal is to showcase ongoing initiatives and discuss ideas for further mechanisms to support companies that apply the new reporting standards.  The ESRS started to apply to the first companies in scope of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive CSRD as of financial year 2024. Effective and well-targeted support initiatives can help to reduce costs and burden for companies. Such initiatives can be developed at European, national and even regional and local levels. In addition to helping companies under the scope of the CSRD, support initiatives might also benefit SMEs who are not facing legal reporting requirements but who nevertheless face an increase in demand for sustainability information as a result of the so-called "trickle-down effect". Women play a key role in sustainable business and policymaking. Women in energy experience a unique journey, with a unique set of challenges and opportunities. Nevertheless, their potential remains underutilised. The 5th Equality Platform meeting will discuss 'How to support women to become sustainable energy entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs' We will address the question how to best support women with equality-related ideas and initiatives, both in their own companies entrepreneurship, as well as employees within organisations intrapreneurship. For social media: EqualEnerEU   The Global Forum on Modern Direct Democracy, organised by Democracy International, includes a Bootcamp on 'how to organise an ECI'. Participants can analyse the best practices of successful ECI organisers and engage in interactive activities to gain real-life understanding of the ECI lifecycle. Illicit Financial Flows IFFs involve illegal or illicit financial transfers across borders, such as money laundering, tax abuse, and terrorist financing. Such flows lead to revenue losses, weaken democratic institutions, decrease private investments, and escalate inequalities. The scale of these flows siphons off substantial annual tax revenues that are urgently needed to increase fiscal space and meet the 2030 Agenda. Climate change is high on both national and European political agendas as all countries need to address the environmental challenges. With this workshop, we aim to focus some of this attention on immediate and future, but inevitable, impact of climate change on international and domestic security affairs and related policy implications. Climate change no longer is considered solely as an environmental issue thus its implications are considered in a variety of contexts stemming from social, through cultural, agricultural, industrial to economic. The documented effects of climate change like global average temperature increase, rise in sea levels, and altered weather patterns generate security consequences, presenting new challenges to societies like intercommunal tensions, changes in rates and types of crime, new legislations and questioning the methods and technology the policing should be performed by. Our ambition is to identify the most pressing trends and threats, and to propose actions that the research community can undertake to support the adaptation process. The event follows the adoption in January 2024 of the Commission report on the macroprudential review for credit institutions, the systemic risks and vulnerabilities of NBFI, and the interconnectedness with the banking sector. The report set out the Commission's intention to involve stakeholders in discussions on these issues in 2024. The objective of this increased stakeholder engagement - which also includes the targeted consultation - is to gather further insight into the markets and business models of NBFI, and the interconnectedness among them and with banks. It also aims to identify gaps in the macroprudential framework and other factors that may contribute to the build-up of systemic risks in NBFI. The objective of this technical workshop is to contribute to the international debate on macroprudential policies for NBFI, with a focus on This event aims to bring together representatives from EU and national authorities, non-EU country authorities, international organisations and industry. The event also features an intervention by Commissioner Mairead McGuinness.
