The European Commission is organizing a technical workshop to raise awareness and support the application of the European green bond standard. This new tool aims to create a gold standard for green bonds, supporting the financing of assets needed for the low-carbon transition. The standard will be available to issuers from 21 December 2024 and relies on the EU taxonomy to define green economic activities, ensuring transparency and creating an EU-level registration and supervision system.
The workshop will take place online on 22 October 2024, from 09:30 to 12:30 CEST. It is designed for prospective issuers, investors, external reviewers, market participants, and national supervisors. The event will feature interactive discussions addressing legal and practical issues related to the new standard.
Key sessions include an introduction to the European green bond standard, its key features, and a new supervisory regime for external reviewers. The event will conclude with a closing session by Hélène Bussières, Head of the Asset Management Unit, DG FISMA.
