Building smarter cities together

EIT Urban Mobility is participating in URBIS 2025, a key event focused on developing Smart Cities through collaboration across sectors and government levels. As Smart Cities become an increasingly important aspect of development in Czech municipalities and regions, URBIS 2025 offers participants the opportunity to explore innovative solutions that will shape the future of urban living.

Highlights from last year

Last year’s edition of the event attracted a high attendance of 1,200 delegates, including government officials, innovation experts, regional innovation centres, industry and city representatives, as well as startups. In addition, the event welcomed over 200 speakers and 80 exhibitors who shared their insights on the future of Smart Cities, innovative technologies, and sustainable urban development.

URBIS is a unique opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful conversations and discover innovative solutions. It also enables experts to build connections that can drive the development of smarter, more sustainable urban environments. Last year’s URBIS focused on key thematic areas, including Effective Public Administration, Sustainable Energy, and Future Mobility.

EIT Urban Mobility had the pleasure to participate in a panel about Future Mobility. The Director of Innovation Hub East EIT Urban Mobility, Traian Urban, alongside the Czech Minister of Transport Martin Kupka, discussed solutions to create more resilient and efficient cities.

The panel covered topics such as intelligent mobility technologies and logistics, autonomous mobility, urban planning, liveability, and public space. Throughout the discussion, speakers emphasised the need for forward-thinking solutions that embrace innovation while prioritising sustainability and accessibility.

Organisers

This year’s edition of URBIS is being organised in collaboration with four Czech ministries and other institutions. Co-organised and hosted by BVV Trade Fairs Brno, the event will take place over two days in Brno, featuring discussions on key themes: Cities and Municipalities Adapting to Climate Change, Community Resilience and Health, and Future Mobility. URBIS 2025 will also place a strong emphasis on tackling the challenges of climate change.
