What do the proposals have to address?
The proposals will target the advancement of energy-efficient and economically viable CO2 conversion technologies, encompassing energy storage and/or the displacement of fossil fuels. Each application must outline ambitious yet attainable targets for the conversion process's energy requirements, production costs, and product yields. These defined targets will serve as benchmarks for monitoring project implementation.
Additionally, proposals must assess the potential of the proposed Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) solution(s) as CO2 mitigation options through a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). This assessment should align with Commission guidelines, including the Innovation Fund GHG methodology, relevant ISO standards, and the EU Taxonomy Regulation.
Proposals are expected to bring technologies that have reached at least TRL 4-5 to TRL 6-7. Activities are expected to achieve TRL 6-7 by the end of the project.
