Fit for 55: Parliament adopts key laws to reach 2030 climate target

This proposal is part of the Fit for 55 legislative package, under the European Green Deal, and intends to tackle the aviation sector as a crucial field for reaching the climate neutrality by 2050. RefuelEU Aviation will help the aviation sector contribute to achieving that target, together with the revised rules on the EU Emissions Trading System in the aviation sector.

It is a proposal that aims to increase both demand for and supply of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), while ensuring a level playing field across the EU air transport market. It is intended to respond to the prospect of including air transport on the trajectory of the EU’s climate targets for 2030 and 2050.
