Compared to the past, there is a greater emphasis on policies, with a clearer structure, and on areas such as artificial intelligence in science, research security, and equity in science.

Recently, the European Commission adopted the proposal for a Council recommendation on the European Research Area Policy Agenda 2025-2027. This 13-page document is the result of joint work between the European Executive, Member States, countries associated with Horizon Europe, and other European sector actors, who collaborated to define the priorities of the new European Research Area (ERA) Policy Agenda within the ERA Forum.

As with the 2022-2024 Agenda, the three-year action plan will serve to coordinate efforts on strategic topics such as open science, research evaluation reform, and other key initiatives. The goal is to translate the priorities established in the "Pact for Research and Innovation (R&I)" into concrete actions, contributing to the EU's long-term strategy for cooperation in this sector.

What is the European Research Area (ERA)?

The European Research Area (ERA) is an initiative aimed at creating a single market for research, innovation, and technology in Europe.
