In the European business world, the proposal from the Heitor Report to establish a European Council for Technology and Industrial Competitiveness (ETIC2) to guide collaborative research within the next Framework Programme (FP10) has been positively received. In this context, it is increasingly likely that the successor to Horizon Europe may have a stronger industry focus compared to today.
Similar to the one signed by Mario Draghi, the Heitor Report also emphasizes the need to better align public funding provided by Horizon Europe and its successor with the needs of the European productive fabric to support the competitiveness of the European economy.
