Since 2000, more than 40% of climate-related disasters occurred in Asia and the Pacific, affecting over 3.5 billion people and causing about one million deaths. By 2050, another 1 billion people living in urban areas will suffer from harmful air pollution and heat stress. 

But the social conditions are not the only one to have been affected by climate change during these years. Indeed, the developing member countries of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have experienced physical losses worth billions of dollars due to climate-related events, such that in 2020 alone the region faced a loss of 67 billion dollars.
