Erasmus+ 2025 Call: €32 Million for Forward-Looking Projects in Education and Training

The young people selected by the EU Executive as Young Energy Ambassadors through the 2025 call will be involved in the development of EU energy policies, interacting with policymakers and industry leaders.

Among the opportunities offered to young energy ambassadors is participation from June 10 to 12, 2025, in the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), which this year focuses on the theme of a "fair and competitive green transition," in line with the competitiveness compass recently launched by the European Commission.

Young Energy Ambassadors: The Program and the 2025 Call

Launched in 2023, the Young Energy Ambassadors initiative reflects the EU Commission's commitment to engage young generations in discussions on a competitive, clean, and fair energy transition.

The program specifically aims to increase the involvement of new generations in the European decision-making process related to sustainable energy, while also enhancing their interest in this topic and recognizing and rewarding young people's contributions to the transition. Among its goals is also to create a dialogue between generations to explore respective challenges and opportunities and find common ground for cooperation.

As per the program's regulations, each year about 30 young people aged 18 to 35 from across Europe are chosen as energy ambassadors for a one-year term, following a selection process through applications to the Commission's call.

Eligible participants include young enthusiasts from all sectors, students, activists, researchers, and professionals committed to a sustainable and climate-neutral future.

For the 2025 edition, the program's activities will take place between April 2025 and June 2026, during which - in addition to participating in the European Energy Week - young ambassadors will enjoy other opportunities, such as engaging in dialogues with politicians, webinars, mentoring activities, and a closed-door session to propose recommendations on the future of clean energy to the new Commissioner for Energy and Housing.

How to Become a Young Energy Ambassador

Eligible to participate in the 2025 call - one of four promoted as part of the European Sustainable Energy Week - are young candidates who meet two specific eligibility criteria, namely:

  • They legally reside in the EU, and their energy-related activities, projects, and actions must be carried out in at least one European member state;
  • They are aged between 18 and 35, meaning they were born between March 1, 1989, and March 1, 2007.

There are also specific evaluation criteria that the Commission will follow in the selection process, each of which will be scored on a scale from 1 to 10. The first criterion is related to the candidate's "profile," which includes originality and their personal journey to becoming a supporter of a clean, fair, and competitive energy transition. The second concerns "action and impact," requiring participants to describe concrete actions taken to promote the energy transition (including on social media) and to address specific energy challenges. Finally, the third criterion is connected to the candidate's "motivation" to become a Young Energy Ambassador.

The 2025 call is open until March 1st, while the results of the selection process will be communicated in mid-April.
