6.2 billion euros invested in sustainable, safe and efficient transport infrastructure
107 are the transport infrastructure projects that have been selected by the European Commission as recipient of more than 6 billion euros. Over 80% of the funding will support projects that deliver a more efficient, greener, and smarter network of railways, inland waterways and maritime routes along the trans-European transport (TEN-T) network.
The 107 new projects have been selected from a total of 353 submitted in response to the call for proposals, published in 2022, all lying on the Trans-European Transport Network. The Commission’s objective is to complete the TEN-T core network by 2030 and the comprehensive network by 2050, while also ensuring that its infrastructure helps the EU deliver its climate objectives, as set out in the European Green Deal. The funding will take the form of EU grants, from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), which will be used to co-finance total project costs.
