This ties in with the climatic objectives of the EC about climate neutrality and competitiveness.

By enhancing collaboration at the EU level, the Alliance aims to expedite the introduction of the initial SMRs in the EU by the early 2030s. This endeavor will adhere to the highest standards of nuclear safety and security, environmental sustainability, and will concurrently promote industrial competitiveness.

What SMRs are?

SMRs are nuclear reactors significantly smaller than conventional nuclear power plants, with production often based on factory-assembled systems and components. Small modular reactors offer numerous benefits compared to conventional nuclear power plants. They provide greater flexibility in terms of site selection, construction speed, and cooling water requirements. Additionall
