New CEF Transport Calls for a greener and more efficient mobility in the EU
The European Commission has released new funding under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), the EU's instrument for strategic investment in transport infrastructure. 7 billion euros is the budget allocated for this 2021-2027 Transport call to fund projects for the Central and Global TEN-T networks.
Divided in three sectors - Energy, Telecom and Transport - CEF dedicates the largest slice of its financial resources to the last one, covering the transport sector and funding projects of common interest to enhance networks and infrastructure for smart and sustainable mobility. 25.8 of the 33.7 billion euros allocated to the 2021-2027 CEF envelope are in fact available for Transport.
The funds for transport infrastructure are distributed as follows: 12.8 billion euros for strategic European investments; 11.2 billion euros transferred from the Cohesion Fund; and about 1.7 billion euros to upgrade the TEN-T network.
The new call 2021-2027 for CEF Transport announced on 26 September by the Commission will b
