A grant to improve the fight against food waste
The ‘Grants for stakeholders to improve measurement of food waste and help implement food waste prevention in their operations and organisations’ is still open in a call for proposals launched by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA).
In the European Union, every year, 88 million tonnes of food waste are generated with associated costs estimated at 143 billion euros. Two-thirds of the costs are associated with waste from households (around 98 billion euros). This is due to households having more edible food waste than any other sector and the costs associated with a tonne of food accumulating along the supply chain (processing, packaging, retailing costs).
The call for proposals is part of the largest EU's Farm to Fork Strategy, which has 3 main goals:
