Specifically, the new calls for proposals under the SESAR3 Joint Undertaking will have a total budget of €254 million and will cover a wide range of areas necessary to implement the Digital European Sky (DES) research and innovation program, an initiative aimed at modernizing air traffic management (ATM) in Europe.

What is the SESAR3 Joint Undertaking and What Does it Fund?

The SESAR3 Joint Undertaking is a research and innovation partnership intended to implement the SESAR (Single European Sky Advanced Research) program for the period 2021-2027, established by Regulation 219/2007 to contribute to the modernization of air traffic management (ATM) by combining technological and operational innovation with the Single European Sky.

Launched in December 2021, SESAR JU is one of the 49 public-private partnerships (PPP) that the European Commission has decided to establish under the Horizon Europe program.
