The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the long-term lending institution of the European Union, owned by its Member States. It finances investments that bolster EU policy objectives in areas such as climate action, digitalization, technological innovation, security and defense, cohesion, agriculture, bioeconomy, social infrastructure, capital markets union, and high-impact projects outside the EU. All EIB Group-financed projects align with the Paris Agreement, as guided by the Climate Bank Roadmap. Nearly 60% of the Group’s operations target climate change mitigation, adaptation, and a healthier environment.
