The three-day training activity for public health officials will focus on health data management and the role of the Data Protection Officer as a regulatory guarantor and promoter of data protection awareness. Through a multi-country peer-to-peer exchange approach together with Team Europe, participants will be able to exchange best practices and knowledge as well as explore innovative solutions in public health administration.
Among others, the training will include sessions on proactive measures for management and security of health data, detecting and managing security breaches and the role of the Data Protection Officer.
The activity is designed to increase awareness about the importance of protecting personal data in the health sector, while also providing practical knowledge that aligns with the realities of the participating countries.
The Regional Awareness Days on Data Protection in the public sector are being implemented in the framework of the EU-LAC Digital Alliance Policy Dialogues, which in addition to the organisation of EU-LAC multi-stakeholder policy dialogues also provide technical activities such as capacity building, pilot projects, case studies and technical cooperation on digital policies and regulatory guidelines.
